ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Heather — your dog’s personal paparazzi and commissioned portrait artist. I was born and raised in Alaska, where my love for photography began as a freshman in high school. I learned the craft the traditional way — shooting film, developing black and white negatives, and printing in the darkroom. There’s something about watching an image slowly appear on paper that never left me. It taught me to see light, emotion, and detail with intention.
I moved to Olympia to attend college, originally dreaming of becoming a photojournalist for National Geographic. While I didn’t end up traveling the world as a documentarian, I did discover something even more meaningful to me — portrait photography.
After college, I worked for a photography company traveling the country photographing gymnastics and large events. I continued photographing weddings, high school seniors, families, and professional headshots. I loved the creativity — but it wasn’t until I began photographing animals that everything truly clicked. Friends who fostered dogs asked me to photograph adoptable pups for their online profiles. Watching those images help dogs find homes lit something in me. I found my greatest creative inspiration in pets — and especially in the deep, unspoken bond between animals and their people.
Over the years, I’ve immersed myself in studying lighting — from classic portrait lighting to fashion-inspired techniques — and I bring that artistry into both my studio and outdoor sessions. My goal is not just to capture a “cute photo,” but to create bespoke artwork that reflects your pet’s personality and the connection you share. The portraits we create together aren’t meant to live on your phone. They are designed to be displayed in your home — heirloom artwork that makes you smile every single time you walk by and reminds you of the love you share.
It would be an honor to photograph you and your pet — to celebrate your relationship and create meaningful artwork you’ll treasure for a lifetime.
Behind the scenes, you may meet my partner Joe. He’s my dog wrangler, sometimes second photographer, master prop builder, and the one who built our studio from the ground up. Many of the creative sets and ideas you see come to life because of his craftsmanship.
And then there’s Raven — our supermodel extraordinaire. She’s my soul dog, my heart, and the best assistant a dog photographer could ever ask for. She happily models all my wild ideas before my clients ever step in front of the camera.
Our Studio
Just minutes from downtown Olympia, our custom-built studio sits on our nearly two-acre property — a peaceful, park-like setting that feels more countryside than city. We intentionally created this space with both you and your pets in mind. It’s comfortable, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed to make sessions easy for pets and relaxed for people. From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel the calm — room to explore, space to breathe, and an environment where tails wag and personalities shine. Our studio is more than just a location. It’s a place to slow down, connect, and create something meaningful. In this relaxed, artistic setting, we craft beautiful, heartfelt images of you and your pet — artwork you’ll treasure and remember forever.
