Moore-Art Paint Portraits-Olympia Portrait Photographers

The last weekend we did another day of paint portraits. Joe and I decided we wanted to do it too. So here are our portraits. This was so much fun and the final images are so amazing. We are so happy with the results. I have a lot of crazy ideas and hopefully I will be doing many more creative shoots this summer. These shoots are great not only for the sheer fun of it but creating and learning new techniques to give our clients artistic and unique elements to add to their portrait sessions. The paint session can be incorporated in a family or engagement session and even an add on to a senior portrait.

First is a portrait of me, Heather Moore. Second is a portrait of Joe Artley. We are the photographers of Moore-Art Photography.

Katie Ridgefield Class of 2014 - Olympia Senior Portrait Photography

Meet Katie. She is our Senior Ambassador for Ridgefield High School Class of 2014. I can't believe Katie is going to be a senior next year. I have been photographing her and her family for 8 years now. As I was driving down to Ridgefield to shoot her senior rep photo session I was worried the rain wouldn't stop but it cleared up and we got some gorgeous photos.

Paint Party - Olympia Portrait Photography

Not your ordinary paint party here. I wanted to do something really colorful and fun, so I purchased these amazing powder paints from India. They are the traditional Holi Festival powders and the colors are spectacular. First we did the light test throwing flour on Joe. It kind of works with his skull shirt. The flour looked cool but we couldn't wait to try out the colored powders. We set up the lights and painter tarps in the backyard and invited a few of our bravest friends over for a fun and messy shoot. This was so much fun and we all loved the results.

What do you think? Is this something you would want as an option for an engagement portrait session or even a senior portrait.

Behind the Photo - Same photo Two Styles - Olympia Dog Photography

Meet Shadow and Midnight. They are the beautiful and sweet girls of Sara Gingerich 'Dog Trainer Extraordinaire'. The entire photo shoot was on the modern white background. I love shooting on white because it's clean, modern but timeless and allows the subjects to shine but I wanted to see if I could get a different look from the same image. In my mind I thought of something Low Key (Dark) and with a vintage style. So I took the background from white to black, increased highlights in the fur, and added an old photo plate border with a texture, to give it the extra aged look.

I love the final artistic creation. More than that I love being able to create two different styles from the same shoot to give the client more options without scheduling two sessions or set changes. What do you think of the images? To view more of our Dog and Pet Portraits

Pin-Up Photography - A Horror Story

This is our friend and stylist Tracy. She came in for a pin-up portrait session and we had an amazing time photographing her. When we had our pre-shoot consultation we discussed doing a little horror story for her, as well as traditional Pin-up. You see, Tracy loves Halloween and Horror movies. She has the best haunted basement in Olympia come Halloween night. Most of the props used in this shoot come from her supply.

Tracy is a stylist at Jamie Lee Salon in Downtown Olympia. If you want to incorporate a story or a specific scene in your pin-up session just let us know. We love creating custom portraits.

Our story is of a damsel stranded and comes across an old house. Going in to escape the elements, she soon discovers she is in some trouble.

Autumn in Central Park NYC - Senior Portrait Photography

The last four years I have had the opportunity to work on the crew that are the official photographers for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC. The crew, that come from all over the country, have become very close. Hanna, her mom, brother and aunt have all been part of the crew for the last few years too and they come in from Florida. This year I had the pleasure to photograph Hanna's senior portraits.

It was a crisp autumn day in New York. We headed over to Central Park and climbed over big rocks, played in the leaves and listened to jazz musicians playing under bridges. I still can't believe Hanna is a senior in high school and she will be off to college next year. She is an amazing young woman.

Introducing Jake the Wonder Cat - Olympia Pet Photography

Hello world. Thank you for stoping by. Since this is our first blog post we will start with introducing you to our baby and subject of many of our personal works, our sometimes not so sweet, Jake. She (yes I said she, Jake is a girl. everyone at the vet knows her as Jake the girl cat) is 12 years old and you wouldn't know it if you saw her. Other than sleeping more hours lately she still acts and looks like she did when she was one. We have been with this little girl since the day she was born and she is truly part of our family.
